Chris Mead, Spirit of the Stairwell, Film Club

There must have been a moment where I decided to dedicate my life to cinema. It stands to reason that at some point I gave up the idea of a normal life and started watching every film I could get my hands on instead.

If logic dictates that this is the case, I can’t for the life of me remember when it was. One minute the only films I’d seen were Bedknobs & Broomsticks, The Living Daylights and Superman IV, the next I was pretty much setting up camp in the cinema and refusing to leave.

Whatever the reason for my transformation, the fact remains that I love cinema. Love it with a passion, a near-religious zeal I am unable to deny. And I want to share my obsession with others, ideally in a way that promotes social interaction.

Hence Film Club. An exciting new venture from The Spirit of The Stairwell.

Every other month, I’ll be hosting a film day at my house, each one based around a different theme or genre. Throughout that day there’ll be showings of the finest films that genre can offer plus themed activities and an episode of the podcast to record.

I’ll provide a schedule of the screenings and activities and then it’s your choice whether you want to come for the whole day, part of it or none of it. I’ll save the very best examples for a back to back double bill in the evening and this is when I expect most people will come out to play
